Four SMU Drafted Players in 2012 Draft

The SMU Mustangs had four players selected in this years NFL Draft. The SMU drafted players are Josh Ribus OL – Washington in 3rd round, Taylor Thompson TE Tennessee in 5th round, Richard Crawford – Washington in 7th round, and Kelvin Beecham – Pittsburgh in the 7th round. Thompson being drafted as a tight end is a tribute to his all out athleticism. He was a defensive end at SMU but played Wide Receiver in high school and was used by June Jones as a tight end in a few sets late in the season.

It is a bit of a Surprise to see Beecham fall to the seventh round. After watching him play this past season and knowing what a good young man he is, he seemed to go much higher.
