There is no greater need on this team, and not just because there is plenty of age at the top of the depth chart. With Jerry Jones basically retaining the 2013 defensive staff, it means the Cowboys will employ the Cover 2 defense again in 2014. From what we saw last year, when the Cowboys did a good job rushing the passer the defense was effective. When they didn’t rush the passer well, the defense fell apart.

Did you see the Cowboys defensive line in 2013? The only things that kept it from being an absolute train wreck was tackle Jason Hatcher, end George Selvie and defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, who found a way to make the 19 different defensive ends and tackles the Cowboys played last season work as best he could.
Jerry Jones must make serious strides in talent at this position, especially if he decides to stick with the Cover 2. The under tackle position (Hatcher’s role in 2013) is critical to the success of that defense.
