The Editor-in-Chief of the “12th Man Magazine” passed away Tuesday morning from unknown causes at the young age of only 49 years old. Homer Jacobs had been writing for the publication, a benefit to 12th Man Foundation donors, for the past eighteen years.
His in-depth articles on Aggie athletics were a tremendous resource for alumni to help them stay up-to-date with all of the happenings around Bryan-College Station. He also frequently contributed stories on former A&M sports greats, providing a “where are they now” perspective.
Tex Ags Radio host Gabe Bock, who hosted Jacobs’ weekly “Four Downs” segment, tweeted out yesterday that their broadcast desk would now be known as the “Homer Jacobs News Desk”. He would have been on-air today sharing his excitement for the opening kickoff of A&M vs. South Carolina on August 28th. Instead, he’ll be watching tomorrow from the heavens with other Aggie legends that have long since left this world.
Jacobs is survived by his wife Laurie, whom he married this past April. The cause of death is unknown at this time and details on funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.
