UNLV wide receiver Jerry Rice Jr., the son of legendary 49ers receiver Jerry Rice, caught his first collegiate touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of the game. His 13-yard score came with 4:56 left in the game and cut UNT’s lead to 28-14.

The post-game trophy ceremony turned into a party for the Mean Green, who were playing their first bowl game in nearly a decade. A few hundred Mean Green fans spilled onto the field to join the team during its post-game celebration. More than 38,000 showed up for the game, with the Mean Green fan base dominating the lower seating bowl.
