SMU Mustangs Merchandise sales are on the rise

Demand For SMU Mustangs Merchandise Is On The Rise

DALLAS (SMU) – For the sixth straight year, SMU has set a new record in annual licensing revenue. Since 2006, SMU royalties have increased 98%, as the Mustangs have gained national prominence.

“There has been a huge increase in the demand for SMU merchandise in the marketplace,” said Brad Sutton, SMU’s Associate A.D. for Public Relations. “In addition to the SMU Bookstore (3060 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75205) and our official online store powered by TeamFanShop, our products can now be found in national chains such as Kroger, Target and Walmart, just to name a few. Our success on the football field has raised the profile of SMU Athletics, and the Mustang brand is thriving.”

SMU partners with The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to manage the SMU marks. CLC is a division of global sports and entertainment company IMG. Founded in 1981, CLC is the oldest and largest collegiate licensing agency in the U.S. and represents nearly 200 colleges, universities, bowl games, athletic conferences, the Heisman Trophy and the NCAA.

SMU will participate in the national College Colors Day on Friday, Aug. 31, just two days before SMU kicks off its 2012 season at Baylor. College Colors Day is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college or university apparel.

SMU, the only Division I athletic program in Dallas, Texas, sponsors 17 sports and has been ranked as the top school in its conference for 11 of the last 15 years in the Director’s Cup overall athletic rankings. More information about SMU and its coaches, student-athletes and teams is available at www.SMUMustangs.com.
