Many mock drafts have Aaron Donald as the first round selection by the Dallas Cowboys

The National Scouting Combine is complete and pro days are just around the corner, so the Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft Tracker is back for its Feb. 28 edition. It’s been two weeks since our last Mock Draft Tracker. How have things changed since our last one on Feb. 14? Find out below. Also, check out my first-round mock draft at RattleandHumSports.com next week. Now that the combine is in the rear-view mirror, we have some movement.

Also, note that the Cowboys are locked in at No. 16 in the first round, thanks to winning their coin flip with Baltimore at the Combine.

CBSSports.com

Rob Rang: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (updated 2/26)

Dane Brugler: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (updated 2/26)

Pete Prisco: Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State (updated 2/26)

Pat Kirwan: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (updated 2/21)

It’s almost near-unanimous right now, especially with Rang and Brugler, who were at the combine and saw Donald work out. Both switched their selection to match Kirwan’s after the combine. If you read our Cowboys coverage you know that Donald was in my first Mock Draft of the offseason. Even though he’s a little shorter than some scouts would like, he flat out performs when the lights go on. The bad news? Donald is having such a great offseason thus far that he could be working himself right out of the middle of the first round.

Something to consider: The middle of the first round appears, for now, to be the sweet spot of this round for defense. Many of the highly-regarded defensive players are falling into this area, which could benefit the Cowboys, even if Donald isn’t on the board when they draft at No. 16.

NFL.com

Daniel Jeremiah: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (updated 2/27)

Bucky Brooks: Calvin Pryor, FS, Louisville (updated 2/21)

Charles Davis: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama (updated 2/10)

Matt Smith: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama (updated 2/19)

The guys at NFL.com are dead set on getting the Cowboys a safety, whether it’s Pryor or Clinton-Dix. Jeremiah was on Pryor until he switched to Donald after the combine.

Something to consider: If these guys are right, Notre Dame OT Zack Martin is going to be right there. With Doug Free entering the final year of his contract, it’s not out of the question to go after a high-grade offensive lineman.

ESPN.com

Mel Kiper Jr.: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama (updated Feb. 6)

Todd McShay: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama (updated Feb. 6)

No updates since the Combine for this pair. But they’re likely coming.

Something to consider: Line up the Cowboys’ No. 16 pick with their big boards and you get some interesting picks – McShay has UCLA LB Anthony Barr as his No. 16 overall prospect, while Kiper has Notre Dame DT Louis Nix III as his No. 16 overall prospect.

Bleacher Report

Matt Miller: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (updated 2/26)

It took a bit but I finally found the lead NFL Draft writer for Bleacher Report. Miller has the Cowboys taking Donald.

Something to consider:  Does everything have to come with a slideshow, Bleacher Report?

Yahoo Sports

Eric Edholm: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama (updated 2/7)

Clinton-Dix is a popular selection, as noted above. Edholm has not updated his mock draft since our last Tracker.

Something to consider:  Edholm has Alabama LB C.J. Mosley dropping to No. 21 and Green Bay. Linebacker is a secondary need for the Cowboys, but Edholm calls him one of the “Ten best pure players in this draft.”

Walterfootball.com

Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State (updated 2/27)

Walterfootball.com is anticipating that Aaron Donald will be selected at No 14, which is two slots above where it had Donald last time we checked in. Jernigan is a nice consolation prize. He’s not quite as explosive, but he’s just a hair bigger and scouts like his upside. He could man the three-technique from Day 1. In fact, he would probably have to.

Something to consider:  WF looks ahead through Round 2 and has the Cowboys taking Dion Bailey, S, USC, in Round 2.

FoxSports.com

Joel Klatt: LB CJ Mosley, Alabama (updated 2/26)

Klatt wades into the mock draft arena for the first time this offseason. Mosley, Klatt says, would be great value at No. 16 and likely the best defensive player on the board.

Something to consider:  Klatt has Donald dropping to No. 27 overall. I think that is unlikely.

Drafttek.com

Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri (updated 2/26)

Drafttek.com computer simulation keeps spitting out Ealy. This is the third straight time the Cowboys have been linked to Ealy at this selection. The Cowboys definitely need DE help.

Something to consider: Drafttek.com goes as far as to do a seven-round mock draft. The simulator has the Cowboys taking LSU DT Ego Ferguson in Round 2, Florida CB Loucheiz Purifoy in Round 3 and Florida OG Jon Halapio in Round 4.

Sports Illustrated.com

Chris Burke: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (updated 2/26)

Don Banks: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama (updated 2/21)

Burke’s fifth mock draft of the offseason has the Cowboys taking Donald, which is becoming an increasingly popular pick. Banks, meanwhile is on the Clinton-Dix train, though his first mock draft of the offseason doesn’t take the combine into account.

Something to consider: Would Jerry Jones pull the trigger on a versatile offensive player like LSU’s Odell Beckham Jr., whom Burke has going at No. 23 to Kansas City? Food for thought.

OptimumScouting.com

Eric Galko: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh (updated 2/26)

Galko’s latest mock draft is fresh off the press and Donald is the selection.

Something to consider: Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans drops to No. 18 in this mock draft. Oh the temptation for Jerry.

SB Nation

Mocking the Draft: DT Ra’Shede Hageman, Minnesota

SB Nation’s “Mocking the Draft” staff has the Cowboys taking the beastly Ra’Shede Hageman at No. 16. He’s considered a bit of a project but his size (6-foot-6, 319 pounds) will get plenty of attention.

Something to consider: Tennessee OT Antonio Richardson has some traction. He’s being projected as the No. 20 pick in this mock draft.

Football’s Future

Robert Davis: DT Aaron Donald, Pittsburgh (updated 2/6)

Davis hasn’t updated since Feb. 6, so he hasn’t taken Donald’s performance in the combine into account.

Something to consider: Alabama OT Cyrus Kouandjio is taken two selections after Donald. Would the Cowboys go that route if Donald, along with the rest of the top defensive linemen, is off the board?
