The University of Kansas has earned no less than a share of the 2012-13 Big 12 men’s basketball regular-season title and will be the No. 1 seed in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship, scheduled for March 13-16 at Sprint Center in Kansas City. It marks the 13th outright or shared crown in 17 seasons for the Jayhawks, who have accomplished the feat nine years in a row.
Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma will be seeded second, third and fourth, respectively. Iowa State and Baylor round out the teams with first-round byes and will be seeded No. 5 and No. 6. The Wildcats match their highest seed in championship history (2010), while the Cowboys have their highest position since being No. 3 in 2005.
First-round games will be played on Wednesday, March 13 with No. 8 West Virginia playing No. 9 Texas Tech and No. 7 Texas facing No. 10 TCU. It will be the first appearance in the Big 12 Championship for the Mountaineers and Horned Frogs.
